Berks Technology Solutions Announces Major Company Changes

Good Morning,

As most of you have been aware, Berks Technology Solutions has been using a video as part of our marketing portfolio with Avast Anti-Virus that shows a virus infection on the website of The Reading Parking Authority.  From the moment we posted that video and continued to promote it, it has upset officials and city council members in The City of Reading, it has upset officials at The Reading Parking Authority, and it has really upset Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach to the point of calling Berks Technology Solutions a “scam operation” after we refused to stop using the above said video.

Most recently the local chamber of commerce has denied us entry unless we agreed to two specific conditions.

  1.  That Berks Technology Solutions cease using The Reading Parking Authority Virus video in its presentations and other marketing promotions.
  2.  That Berks Technology Solutions surrenders a specific domain name that we legally own to a big time political donor in Berks County that gives money to local politicians including Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach.

Throughout this entire process, Berks Technology Solutions finds this behavior completely deplorable.  I have never seen in my 13 year career in Information Technology, such government corruption, ignorance, and sloth that I have seen operate in Berks County and in The City of Reading by trying to censor and discredit a company and a valuable resource that could educate people on virus prevention and identity theft.

As President of Berks Technology Solutions I am proud of the work that my staff and I did during that whole process.  We are proud of the fact that we saved people’s identities from being stolen.  We are proud of the fact that our clients were taken care of and their machines were not destroyed.  Most importantly during that crisis we were proud of helping fix our residential clients for free.  Quite a few people, including myself, worked our tails off because we believe that helping our fellow citizens in our community is a good business model.  Sadly people like Commissioner Leinbach only care about how many votes it will get him for his reelection this November.  Berks Technology Solutions was not founded for the purpose of politicians and political hacks to defame it, slander it, and throw it under the bus for political gain.

Because of this behavior in Berks County, I therefore have decided that all planned expansion of the company in Berks County will stop immediately, including showings of additional office space.  The 15 to 20 additional hires that are slated to be filled during the 4th quarter of this year will be relocated to another location to be determined by the end of the 3rd quarter.  Existing Berks County operations will also be relocated by the end of the 4th quarter of 2011 to an area slightly outside the county line with a county government that values good business.  These moves will not change current client response times for people in Berks County.  We will be posting news about the move as it develops on our website, and we will keep you informed as to all the developments that go on.  Most importantly I personally want to thank our valuable clients that have and continue to business with us.  Here is to taking things to the next level.

Sincerely,

Matthew Heckman
